New artwork has arrived in Fremantle on one of their outdoor table tennis tables. It’s an octopus with a huge, scary eye – watching out for hecklers and passive bystanders. The two tables (with artwork by local artists) have caused a stir in both the hardcore ping pong scene and the marine biology fraternity (who fear it’s not an accurate representation of the eight-legged creature).

Photographer and ping pong enthusiast Yvonne Schell kindly took this photo of our two tables at Gilpin Reserve, Brunswick. We’re not sure where the red stripe came from but we like it.  There’s another Red Stripe that goes particularly well with ping pong and glorious sunshine on a Saturday afternoon. I’m from Jamaica, man.
